Why do I need to login?
LeapTag shows you articles that you are most likely to be interested in by matching items that you liked (and disliked) to a list of available news and blog articles. In order to remember your feedback, we need to know that it is actually you who clicked on thumbs up/down button. We use cookies to achieve this.

Logging in will enable you to recover your history in case you clear your cookies, or access our site from another machine.

Also, using your e-mail address, LeapTag can send you new articles that you may be interested based on your previous visits, and when there is an activity on an item that you tagged. Of course, you get to select if, how and when you will be sent an e-mail using your preferences.
What is the difference between this web version and original LeapTag?
This application is a web version of our stand alone application LeapTag. Basic functionality and the "back-end" are the same. LeapTag client has more functionality (more interests, publishing features, etc). It also runs on your computer, so it's a bit more flexible and private. On the other hand, web and Facebook version have some additional features that are related to social networks, such as sharing.

By the way, we are constantly adding new features to this version. We welcome your comments and suggestions about our features.
How did you implement this version of LeapTag?
One part CSS, one part Javascript mixed with AJAX, 2.4 parts Python (customized) with a touch of TurboGears, served with CherryPy on Amazon EC2/S3.
